OP here: Mr Castillo arrived promptly at 9:30 very professional, and a hell of a good mechanic/great guy. Problem turned out to be worn/damaged battery cables and connectors. wire brushed terminals and connectors to battery and relay. this is only short term solution as corrosion/ battery acid has built up buldged internal main grounding and power cables. need to order new cables from dealer as they are specially made for explorer’ 6 connections each.this problem will reoccur again unless the new cables are installed. starts up great right now. I would recommend bob castillo 452-9600 to anyone well worth the very reasonable cost. william

Bob is awesome! I’ve just moved here from HI and I called him to come check out a car I was fixing to buy. He did a A+ inspection and gave me his honest professional opinion. I didn’t end up buying that car, due to the consignment guy selling it being a little bit crazy. I called Bob several more times to consult with him on cars to purchase, and he was always very helpful offering complimentary advice. If my new – used Prius needs any repairing, Bob is my guy. Bob is my guy. He only uses oem parts, doesn’t do 1/2 assed jobs – he is mobile, so comes to you and is less then the dealer!

UPDATE: The next day after I wrote this review, Bob called my cell phone and left a message “just to check in” and make sure that the battery was okay. Really amazing service in this day and age. He has really earned my business, and I hope others read this review and give Bob’s Mobile Service a try as well.

I left the lights on in my car for 3 days while I was away on a trip. I tried over and over again to jumpstart the car, to no avail. I realized that it probably needed a new battery, and since I didn’t want to pay the fee to tow the car to Sears or Costco I checked to see if there was a mobile mechanic nearby to come deliver and install a battery.
I lucked out and randomly called Bob’s Mobile Car and Truck Service at 5:30 p.m.. Bob himself answered (no need to leave a message and hope for a call back) and he listened to the problem. I offered to meet him the next day or even the day after, figuring it would be a lot to ask for him to come over straight away. Well, he volunteered to bring over the battery within the 1/2 hour, even though I figured most mechanics would (rightfully) be calling it a day by 6.
He showed up when he said he would, but then went one better. Instead of just putting in the battery, he offered to try one more time to jumpstart the old battery (jump starting would be a charge that would be a lot cheaper than a new battery plus installation). Well, he was right. The car started right up. Turns out my jumper cables weren’t up to the task. Great news. On a whim, I asked him if he would be able to take a look at a new steering wheel I had just bought for the car, and before I knew it, he had the old wheel off, and the new wheel on, right there in the parking lot. He insisted that I test drive the car to make sure that the wheel was centered and balanced, and he also spent a couple minutes trouble shooting a loose wire problem.
After all this, the bill was really reasonable!
He was pretty careful to insist that I keep an eye on the battery and make sure to keep his card so that if it went dead again, he could offer me a FREE followup jump to make sure that I could get it going again. Turns out the jump did the trick, and the car is running just fine tonight.
I would not hesitate to recommend anyone call Bob to schedule fast, reliable, knowledgeable service
